  Interview:

What are the names of the bands you worked with before Propaganda ?
The Subhumans, Simple Minds

How did you enter Propaganda in 1985 and how was this contract made (to support p: on their tour) ?
Sacked from Simple Minds. I was a friend of Keith Bourton, who was Propaganda`s manager at Heaven Managment.
I knew Paul Morley, and they contacted me to do the tour and help with the album.

Did you knew how many concerts you played with Propaganda ?
All of them.

Do you have a list of the concerts and dates you played with Propaganda ( i have only the UK and German dates)  ?
No, but i could try to find them.

How did you experiencePropaganda`s legal battles?
I like  to think I helped out that time. We recorded and wrote new songs during this period
at my scottish farm.

What were your expectations of the band`s sound for the album 1234??
I thought the production was immaculate but, it took far too long to record. i felt we wasted a lot of time
and money on the new album. I was also desperate to tour. The songs were 4 years old at release !!!

You are listed on some song credits, is one (or more) of them written by you ??
Yes, remember, I was one of the "Simple Minds Writing Team" !! I also wrote your favourite-

I think „1234“ is underrated, because everyone waits for a second „a secret wish“ album and  nobody wants to see and feel the love and the soul in this album. What do you think about „1234“ and what was your expectations on this album ??
Different writers, different producers, equals different sound. The production was too self indulgent,
to reliant on machinery.

What are you favourite song(s) of 1234 ? ( Mine is „Wound in my heart“ )
As you can see from the credits i wrote this one, but i like Michaels "carne, morte et il diavolo"

In 1990 i was very disappointed, because the tour was cancelled, what was the reason for this ??
I think it was because the album didn`t sell as expected, i blame it on the "court case"
and the "lost years" waiting to get off of the ZTT label.

When and why did you leave the band and what was the reason for the split ?
I was working with Michael in Düsseldorf at Skyline and i spoke about touring, Michael said, he thought
we need to record more songs first. i was fed up with recording, so i told Brian and we decided we had had enough,
and left.

Have you been involved in some musical productions after you had left Propaganda ?
Yes. i worked hard with "Kirk Brandons" 10:51, then a Japanese Band called "Oblivion Dust"
(check their site on the web). I also rejoined Simple Minds and recorded Neapolis and toured for 3 years.

What are you doing now musically???
I am in a new band called "REHAB" with Mick MacNeil and Mel Gaynor (both Simple Minds).
Next year we may rejoin Simple Minds for the 25th Anniversary Tour.

Have you heard the new song „No return“ and the „Duel Y2kmix“from Propaganda, did you like them ???
No, havn`t heard them, but i`m sure they`ll be brilliant.
Long Live Propaganda `Hey` lets tour !!
