Interview:

Karl: How have you entered the music business and what was the first things you do ?

Betsi: My older brother played keyboards in a band and i always followed him around and went to waiten him practice. He used to sometimes let me sing.

Karl: What`s the name of the bands you worked before Propaganda ?

Betsi: A local munich band called "Shampoo" .

Karl: Have you ever released something with this band ??

Betsi: Good heavens, no. No really .... you wouldn`t like to hear it. I wouldn`t let you !

Karl: On which way did you hear about Propaganda and is the following information about your membership right ?
Betsi Miller was born in Idaho, America and moved to Germany when she was twelve. Years later, said friend of Suzanne Freytag spotted her to singing in Munich night club where she waitressed by day. Her phone number was passed on to Suzanne who went to meet her. Michael Mertens: "Suzanne met her first and come back to the band and said `well I hope she can sing` because she felt she would be right.". Betsi recalls " Suzanne asked my if I wanted to come to an audition. They sent me a tape of Duel, Murder Of Love and p:Machinery off the first LP.". But she was unsure as to how to conduct the interview: "It as just a playback without vocals so they obviously wanted me to sing over it, and after hearing Claudia`s voice, I was thinking `I don` t know if it` s right, not because I feel limited`. Some of the vocal melodies are so simple and I was used to singing a little more exotically, a little more free. So I thought I could either go in there and sing it as close to the album as possible, or I can go in there and show them exactly what I` m capable of - and that` s hat I did" Needless to say, Betsi won the audition. She then re-located from Munich to Dusseldorf in the space of two days and the regeneration of Propaganda was complete

Betsi: Yeah. Thats abnit right. Axel Hütte (photographer in Düsseldorf) was a friend of Wolfgang Platz, who was my boyfriend at the time. Axel was friends with Suzanne.

Karl: What was your expectation of the sound of the band ??

Betsi: No expectations. Just loads of admiration and respect.

Karl: You are listed on some song credits, is one (or more) of them written from you ??

Betsi: I helped with some of the wrinting. Most of the vocal melodies and more. We all worked together.

Karl: I think "1234" is underrated, because everyone waits for a second "a secret wish" album and nobody wants to see and feel the love and the soul in this album. What do you think about "1234" and what was your expectations on this album ??

Betsi: I love the album. It reflects on a great time in my life and was at the time ... the main reason for living.

Karl: What are you favourite song(s) of 1234 ? ( Mine is "Wound in my heart" )

Betsi: "Vicious Circle", "Wildlife" "How much love" and "Heaven give me words"

Karl: I`ve seen two videos "Only one word" and "Heaven give me words", are there others ? Did you know the names of the directors of the video`s ?

Betsi: No others. "Heaven give me words" was by Vaughn and Anthea, "Only one word" by William Smack.

Karl: In 1990 i was very disappointed, because the tour was cancelled, what was the reason for this ??

Betsi: Too much money + time was spent in the recording studio – no comment.

Karl: Have you had any live concerts or live tv appearance with Propaganda ??

Betsi: Yeah. All over europe.

Karl: When and why did you leave the band and what was the reason for the split ?

Betsi: Was not really a split. We all were desperate to have some time with our families.... that feel to different interests.

Karl: Have you been involved in some musical productions after you leave Propaganda ?

Betsi: Did some singing on a "veue" album a couple of years ago.

Karl: Have you cantact to Brian and Derek ?? What did they do now ???

Betsi: Yes. They live in Scotland and enjoy doing bits and pieces in the music business. Both are daddies.

Karl: You`ve married Chris Hughes and you have 3 children, what`s your future plans, any new musical productions or is this past ?

Betsi: I``ve gone back to school and am studying at the moment. Plan to start a business venture with friends – would love to sing again.

Karl: Is Chris actual involved in some musical productions ??

Betsi: Yes. He produces records, he is not involved with any musical productions of mine – we try to keep that seperate. Too many arguments.

Karl: Have you heard the new song "No return" from Propaganda, did you like him ???

Betsi: Have not heard it.

Karl: Would you like to say something to your fans :

Betsi: Thanks for the support. It was my greatest time of my life.

Thank you Betsi for your time and contribution and all my best wishes to you and your family.
